It's been awhile...

... and I still sit and wonder to myself "why do I put up with the world I live in?"

So the loony-lefty LIEberals are trying to find themselves a new leader today. So far the lunatic fringe is leaning toward someone who hasn't even lived here in 30 years, teaching some lib-leaning crap in some Ivy League school, finding his way back here and becoming an instant MP. Sorry Iggy, you shouldn't have even been elected MP last election. Alas, there are too many brainwashed Lib-leaning pinkos living around here, so I can only shake my head and wish I didn't live here.

But on a lighter note - how 'bout those Leafs? OK, best I become more depressed talking about the LIEberal convention.

The Return of His Weirdness!

Ahh, the 80s. When you'd be glued to (not)MuchMusic and come across a Weird Al video. One thing that must be said - he had a certain pinache for making his stupid parodies work on-screen. Then came the 90s, when the videos got even better ("Amish Paradise" ruled! So did "Bedrock Anthem".)

But then came the 2000s, and Al videos became an afterthought. At least on (not)MuchMusic, where it used to be that whenever Al came up with a new album, he'd get 2 hours or so to plug it on "Al Music" (yes, I know it was a blatant ripoff of what he did on MTV, with "Al TV".)

The last album I remembered from him was "Running With Scissors" back in 1999, which was lame compared to his previous 90s efforts. "The Saga Begins" just never worked for me, although "Alberqurque" was kinda cute in a long-winded sort of way. (And you don't have to tell me about "Poodle Hat" - I know he did an album since, but I never heard one track or saw one video from it.)

Then yesterday I stumble around ytmnd.com (Why? Don't ask) and hear a clip from his latest track. Which of course, became a Google quest for more. How ironic a title for a tune that's being encouraged to download at will: "Don't Download This Song." Clever marketing ploy, Al - makes me want to buy your new CD. All you have to do is tell me where the slot is on my iPod to play it %]

If you haven't heard the track yet, head for dontdownloadthissong.com and download your own copy. While you're at it, check out the video too: at least in this day and age, we don't have to sit around and wait for (not)MuchMusic to air it. It's on Yahoo - a place normally avoided by me, except that it's the only place I found the video, which is hilarious, I'll add - good to see Al back.

What to talk about today...

Beirut's being turned into another crater. I'm sure you already know about that. What else to talk about today? Nothing. I'm just going to sit here and rant about absouletly nothing. Not into talkbing squat tonight. So blah blah blah, what a waste of a couple hundred bytes.

It's Friday - Time To Get Lucky!

Hot night here in Tranna. Fuck yeah, it's one hell of a hot one.

Here are my two suggestions to survive a hot night like this:

1: A fridge full of beer
2: The A/C cranked to the max.

On a night like this, methinx I'll stay cocooned in this well-cranked A/Ced house. And sit in front of this computer and go on either PokerStars or Score Poker. You can find me on either site as fafaflunkie. Will I win? Probably not - I stink online. At a real poker table, however, that's another story. I'll get into that a little later. (Fuck, I'm rambling big time here, ain't I?)

Hope to see someone I know online. Perhaps you? TIme to win...

Shine on, you crazy diamond

Remember when you were young
You shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond!

Now there's a look in your eyes
Like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond!

You were caught in the crossfire
of childhood stardom
rolled on the steel breeze

Come on you target
for faraway laughter
Come on you stranger,
you legend, you martyr, and shine!

There goes my sleep tonight

For those of you who don't know about this town I live in, let me let you in on something.

There is no city outside of Italy with a bigger Italian population than Toronto.

So, with that knowledge in mind, you can pretty much guess what's going on in this town right around now... acutally, it was going on ever since Tuesday, intensified more so as today came, became ballastic around 2:30pm (or about the time Italy scored to tie the game), became downright obnoxious when that French idiot Zidane got red-carded for head-butting that Italian in the chest in the 2nd overtime. And you can pretty much guess what's going on now. It will continue to do so for the next month or so.

Someone get me the Nytol. Or a Gatling gun. PLEASE?!!

Vive la France! (Errr, what?)

I never thought the day would come when I would say that, but it sure made things quieter around here the other day when the Frenchies beat Portugal. Now it's only ½ as horny in this two-bit town. Methinks my skull would have exploded if I had to deal with both the Portos and the Ginos honking non-stop along this neighbourhood. Now let's hope the Frenchies made a better bribe than the Italians to FIFA -- and make Sunday afternoon sort-of peaceful. %].

Now, for those of you who don't know me (about 6.2 billion, me reckons) - I've really no interest for soccer (or futbol as most of you Europeans will immediately and smugly correct me). The idea of watching 22 men running around on a field, kicking a ball around in the haplesss quest of actually getting said ball near the opposing net makes me yearn for something more exciting to watch -- like watching grass grow. But I will have to give most "elite" soccer players credit: their acting skills are top-notch! Who woulda thunk that a mere rub on a player would make him cripple down like he's been shot in the head, grimmacing madly up at the sky while he's lying on the ground? I'm guessing for 2010, FIFA should abstain from running this fiasco, and hand the duties over to the Academy (of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). Toss the World Cup trophy and give the best diver an Oscar™ for his performance.

Here's hoping for a peaceful Sunday afternoon. Least there aren't too many Frenchies in this two-bit town of mine...

So this is how it all begins

So, here I am, sitting in front of this piece of computer, doing something I first did about 20 years ago -- ranting online.

Course then, it was my old BBS. Whoa, this makes me feel old here.

Of course, back then I was a bit more vocal, a lot more steamed about the world I lived in, and a lot more thirsty for beer. No, scratch the third point in that last sentence - I'll never be more thirsty for beer than I am now. Which reminds me to jump to the fridge and grab me one.

So what possessed me to start this blog? I don't know, just felt like doing this. Not like I have much of anything better to do on a day like this, sweating my ass off because I won't get said ass off this chair to turn the a/c on. But I digress.

As I get more used to this, I'll start typing something more interesting. Until then, welcome to my blog. For those who remember me, I pity you %] For those that don't, begin to read, then read on -- not now, when I get around to adding to this, then ask yourself: "who let this fuckin' lunatic out of the asylum?" Oh well, enough of the intro. You'll learn more about me and why I'm doing this later - when I'm up for an actual rant. Until then, I hope you enjoy the inane banter I'll spew upon this blog.

Regards, --RW
